The Nivernais circuit, renowned for its four-season weather on the same day, hosted the 7th race of the 2022 World Superbike season this weekend.
When an injured pilot lowers the visor of his helmet, he may forget his injury if it does not cause him physical discomfort.
Unfortunately, this is not the case of the pilot Christophe Ponsson, whose slightest gesture of wingspan with his right arm reminds him well of the presence of his metal plate fixed by 10 screws to his clavicle, so an unpleasant feeling that he gets used to in his daily life, but who in the physical effort appropriate to his sport limits his ability to drive without restraint!
Indeed, the goal is to drive as fast as possible and at the same time we must try to obey the instructions of these doctors who ask to avoid falling back on the wound at the time of healing. We must admit that such a medical request is a brake for any competitor!..
Despite this, the Gil Motor Sport-Yamaha rider has once again performed well, considering his current shoulder. The driver Christophe Ponsson was not rewarded to the height of his efforts, because at the gate of the points in the 2 races since 2 times in the 16th place.
On the sporting level our driver Christophe Ponsson is disappointed with his position since last season at Magny-Cours he was 13th in the 1st race and 12th in the second, but on the medical level he is happy because since his injury at the start of the 3rd lap of the 1st race of Misano in Italy (crash on electronic problem) the driver Christophe Ponsson has finally finished a race, what he has been unable to do since 22 May 2022 at the WSBK in Estoril, Portugal.
Indeed he was able to keep a good pace, to go back to the previous group, then to double them at the end of the race finishing even in front of 2 direct competitors equipped Yamaha including the Japanese K.NOZANE.
In an evil there is always a good and in this first race at Magny-Cours, Christophe Ponsson could see that the daily treatment of his Intercostale Neuralgia is gradually making its way, which means that healing may be done gently but it’s in a good voice!..
In the 2nd race despite also the 16th position at the finish, it was more complicated because of the cumulation of events that as the weekend progressed more weakened than usual the right arm of our driver who finished this 2nd race in pain.
It was the day after the race weekend in the Czech Republic, on August 1, that doctors noticed the Intercostal neuralgia, damaged tendons and crushed axillary nerve, they have announced to Christophe Ponsson between 3 to 4 months for a probable physical return 100%, so unfortunately our driver will still not 100% of these physical means at the WSBK of Barcelona in Spain and Portimao in Portugal at the beginning of October, however every day, every week and every month that passes, he will get better and better until his total recovery!…
Next stop of the World Superbike Championship at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain from 23 to 25 September 2022.
